Dev Log: Progress Update for October
This past month has been both challenging and productive for the TGS Tech team as we push forward with the development of Apex Engine, making strides in both the business side and the platform itself.
Development wa s notably impacted by the severe hurricanes that hit the southeastern United States, including Georgia and the Carolinas, in October. Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton brought widespread destruction and significant disruption to the region. Many of our staff members were directly affected, facing power outages, loss of internet connectivity, and logistical challenges that temporarily slowed down our progress. We are grateful and relieved to report that all of our team members are safe.
Despite these hardships, our team’s resilience and dedication shone through. Every small step forward is a step towards building a stronger platform and achieving our vision.
Some of our staff members went above and beyond, actively assisting those impacted in their local communities, embodying the true spirit of teamwork and solidarity. We extend our heartfelt thoughts and good wishes to everyone affected by these devastating storms and remain hopeful for their swift recovery and rebuilding efforts.
Major Milestones Achieved:
- Shader and Render Engine Advancements: The development of our initial shader and render engine is now approximately 80% complete. This foundational component is essential for providing high-quality graphics and efficient rendering capabilities in Apex Engine, bringing us closer to the seamless visual experience we aim to deliver.
- Animation Editor: We have completed the final testing phase of our animation editor. This robust tool is ready to be integrated into the build and will be added in the near future when we reach the appropriate stage. The completion of this editor marks a significant milestone in enhancing our animation capabilities for developers.
- Feedback and Direction: Valuable feedback from several of our past clients, as well as some new ones, has helped us solidify the direction of our Building Information Modeling (BiM) features and refine the AI Assist tool. This collaborative input has been instrumental in ensuring our tools align with real-world needs and enhance user experience.
- Server Structure and Hybrid Systems: Our team has completed the Perforce and server structure, setting the stage for the next phase of development. With Microsoft’s help through the new partnership, we will be focusing on the intricacies of integrating an Azure build system to support hybrid environments and cross-compatibility for our clients, further improving scalability and deployment options.
Strategic Partnership:
We are excited to share that TGS Tech has been accepted into the Microsoft Partnership and Founders Hub. This partnership grants us access to valuable resources and tools that will accelerate our development efforts, particularly as we work toward completing the Lite MVP build of Apex Engine. The additional support from Microsoft is a key advantage that should enhance productivity and speed up the next phases of development.
Looking Ahead:
Even though the hurricanes brought serious challenges and a few delays, the team’s resilience and dedication helped us push through and keep some momentum going. With critical core components nearing completion and new strategic partnerships in place, we are well-positioned to make significant progress in the coming months. We remain committed to delivering a powerful, innovative platform that meets the highest standards of development and client expectations.
Our thoughts are with everyone affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. We wish for your safety, recovery, and strength in these difficult times. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to push the boundaries of what Apex Engine can achieve!
